Merino Costa Rica's Academy- Welcome

In this site you would find information about the experience of sensei Merino, as a professor of the Academy, since year 2000, imparts lessons of one of the most accredited martial arts, ASHIHARA KARATE.

Besides you will have access to information about the Martial Arts Center, the class schedule, the seminaries and/or tournament that are organized and other events that involve the martial arts in Costa Rica and the world.

Ashihara Karate, could be described as “circles movements”. The symbol of the Ashihara Karate illustrates the rules of the most efficient movements of the human body. The human body has a natural inclination to move in circles and in three dimensions, just like the movement of a sphere. The circles movements implicate that instead stand face to face to your opponent, you are going to move around him/her, keeping him/ her your side or your back, and this way, rejecting attacks and becoming a difficult objective to reach.

 

The essence of Ashihara Karate rests in its innate rationality. This way, Ashihara Karate is the most vital style and practical in situations of real fight.

Goju Ryu, is a style of martial arts created in Okinawa, what means: the style of the strength and smoothness: Go "strength", ju "smooth" y ryu "style". The creator of this style is the Master Chojun Miyagi. This style is characterized by its short and high positions, being effective since short distances. Katas of the Goju Ryu style Works slowly and with contractions, using “sanchin” to develop strength and stability.
The existence of hard and smooth aspects gives a special characterics to Karate Goju-Ryu and it is what allows to get victories in fights.

 

judo

Judo, is a martiar art that comes from Japan and besides is a olympic sport. This style was created by Jigoro Kano in 1882. According the Internacional Federation of Associated Fights, judo is one of the main styles of competitive fights practiced in our days in the entire world and people whom practice it are called jodokas.
