The sensei Merino began training in martial arts at age 9 years, in art known as Tae Kwon Do. At 12 years began their training in Kung Fu Fat Choy Lee, where he obtained the degree of 1st Dan, awarded by the Hong Sing Fat Choy Lee, also the dance Kodenkan Ryu gave the same degree.
In 1996 received the Ramon Lono Hanshi Width Jr. brown belt in judo - Jujitsu Academy of Dance Kodenkan Ryu. At the end of that year the Hanshi Ramon Lono Width Jr. granted him the honour to be certified as a dance instructor Advanced Kodenkan Ryu.
In October 1997 he was promoted to 1st Dan Karate from Kempen, in the same year, finished the course of arbitrators Karate, given by the national association of referees Karate - Do.
The year 1999 was the visit of Kaicho Hoosain Narker (Chairman of the Ashihara Karate International) who gives the representation of Ashihara Karate International in Costa Rica, which currently is the 2nd Dan.
In mid-2001 received a visit from Shihan Evan Pantazi of Kyusho Jitsu, after several workouts with Shihan Pantazi his representative and the sensei Merino is promoted to the degree of senpai in Kyusho Jitsu "American School Kara-Te.
In 2002, he received a course of referees and referee given by the chairman of the ISKA "International Sports Kickboxing Association.
