Goju Ryu
The founder of the School Goju Ryu was the highlight Master Chojun Miyagi, who learned the teacher's Naha Te Kanryo Higaonna. The Grand Master Kanryo Higaonna
Born on March 10, 1853, in Naha, Okinawa's capital. From an early age, Kanryo Higaonna helped his father at work and as a result of the hard work that physical development by strengthening his body. Kanryo was a teenager when his father died suddenly. She decided to study martial arts and went to Fuzhou, China. He arrived there in 1869, when he was 16 years. Once in Fuzhou, learned Chinese martial arts with the great master Ryu Ryu Ko. It soon became Uchi Deshi (private disciple) and remained in China under the instruction of their teacher lasts for about 13 years. In addition to learning martial arts with empty hands, became skilled in the use of weapons and the use of Chinese herbal medicine. Master Ryu Ryu Ko felt greatly admired his pupil and the skill and honor of his disciple. Such was the skill of Kanryo that his fame spread throughout Fuzhou. Chojun Miyagi, founder of Goju Ryu and successor Kanryo Higaonna said about him: "My Sensei had an incredible force and severity of the training that taught in China is beyond comprehension... The speed and power of Sensei were Kanryo sobrehumano really, his hands and feet moved faster than lightning. " Words can not explain their true ability. We can only say that his skill was incredible but this is not enough to do justice. In 1881, after 13 years of diligent study with his teacher, he returned to Okinawa and Naha where his martial arts became known by the name of Naha you (these arts were also called "all" which means martial arts of Chinese origin). Kanryo taught the people of Okinawa but at the same time continued to investigate and practicing. That was how, to teach young people, designed a method that develops the mind and body and providing spiritual and physical welfare. In their classes, Kanryo showed extremely hard but in his daily life was a quiet and gentle man, known for his patient nature. He was a man who had no desire or interest in material things. His life, simple and straightforward, was dedicated to the study and practice of martial arts. There are many stories that relate passages of his life and training. The Grand Master Chojun Miyagi
Born on April 25, 1888. He started practicing karate under the supervision of Kanryo Higaonna at the age of 14 years in 1902. As his Master, learned, thanks to his great talent and determination, very quickly. The training was severe, often beyond what is imaginable but increasingly practiced hard and with an enthusiasm not matched by the rest of the students .- It became Uchi Deshi (private disciple) Kanryo Higaonna and studied with Maestro during this 14 years before he died in 1915. Chojun, as successor to Naha-te reached limits of effort in its desire to imitate the extraordiaria ability of his teacher. That same year he traveled to Fuzhou, China, the city where his teacher studied martial arts to refine their skills. He worked very hard to spread beyond karate Okinawa and the island of Japan and to gain the same respect they possessed the Japanese martial arts such as judo and kendo. To develop this, he traveled frequently to the island of Japan where he was invited to teach karate at the universities of Kyoto and Ritsumei Kan. In 1933, karate was registered in the Butokukai, the Centre for all martial arts in Japan. Chojun Miyagi dedicated his entire life to practice karate and was responsible for structuring the Naha-te (later he called with the name of Goju-Ryu) in a discipline which might be sistematizada taught all of society and also allowed be taught to all young people. The name means Goju Ryu school and how hard the soft, that name was taken from a line written in Bubishi (text on Chinese martial arts and other subjects). That line appears in a poem describing 8 precepts on the martial arts. Today we see this as karate is practiced not only in Japan but in all countries. Karate no longer belongs only to one place but on all nations and peoples of the world.
The Gran Master Eiichi Miyazato
Born in Naha (Okinawa) on July 5, 1922. He started in karate with his father, knowing Miyagi Sensei in 1938, becoming his disciple. In 1946, Miyazato Sensei, came to be Chief of Police, thanks to the recommendation of his Master, where he was assistant karate instructor, along with his master. Upon the death of Miyagi Sensei, was appointed successor to the Goju Ryu, staying responsible for directing the Dojo Miyagi Sensei, until in 1957 built a new Dojo in Naha, the current Jundokan (Temple of the True Way), in reference the loyalty to his Master, the first headquarters of the association Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate-Do Kyokai, with the commissioning of the dissemination and expansion of style Goju-Ryu worldwide. Miyazato Sensei has maintained during his life traditions and heritage of Chojun Miyagi. In 1972, is withdrawing its occupation in the Police, devoted exclusively to teaching karate, until his death, he was President of the Okinawa Goju-Ryu karate do Kyokai, President of the Okinawa Karate Federation and Vice-President Judo Federation Okinawa, discipline also practiced for many years.
