Hideyuki Ashihara

Hideyuki Ashihara, was born in December 05, 1944, in the Perfectura of Hiroshima, Japan. He founded his First School of Karate on Yawatahama, a small town located in the borders of the sea in the Perfectura de Ehime, in 1965.
As a devotee of the Martial Arts he looked for a rational and logical form for his techniques of karate.
Like Shihan in Kyokushin Karate, the ability to evade and to attack his opponents by their blind point allows him to be to the vanguard of the other Instructors. This combination of defense and attacks was called Sabaki, wich demonstration is part of the film " Strongest Karate" , in the year of 1976.
In 1977, his student Takao Nakayama won the second place in the tournament All Japan Championships. The following year, another of his students, Joko Ninomiya (Director and founder of Enshin Karate) won the third place in The 1st World Open Championships, and besides won The All Japan Championships. This established Ashihara Karate in better position and gave him the strong to develop and improve his Sabaki.
In 1979, previous the 2nd World Championship, he left the Kyokushinkai (According to Kyokushin he was expelled).
On 1980, Ashihara created the New International Karate Organization Ashihara School (NIKO), which was like the Kancho (Master leader) until the day of his death (April 24, 1995).
This school has been developed in Japan and all over the world.
